Reflecting Telescopes – models for starting out
As you may know, reflecting telescopes are made for astronomy and deep sky observation. Here are a few models of reflectors that are in a reasonable price range yet seriously perform.
Celestron Nexstar 130 SLT
This is a computerized reflector telescope with a Newtonian design. Some features:
- Portable and lightweight (30 lbs)
- Wide field views
- The Skyalign feature makes it a great scope for a beginner
Orion SkyQuest XT6 Classic Reflecting Telescope
Great optics on this Dobsonian and also perfect for a first telescope. This one gets some rave reviews. Features:
- 6 inches of arperture, 1200mm focal length
- Collimation is not a pain, not much needs done right out of the box
- weighs about 35 lbs, mount included
Celestron Nexstar 114GT
This is a 114mm reflector with a go to hand control. Features:
- 10 & 25mm 1 1/4 eyepieces.
- Adjustable Tripod
- weight is a little over 20 pounds
